開元元年（癸丑盡二十九年）
開元十八年。八祖左溪禪師。於東陽左溪
為荊溪然禪師說止觀。是年新羅法融
等。傳教歸國。
天寶元年（壬午盡十四年）天寶十三年九月十
九日。左溪禪師示寂。

First year of Kaiyuan (guichou, lasting twenty-nine years).
In the eighteenth year of Kaiyuan, the Eighth Patriarch, Chan Master Zuoxi, expounded cessation and contemplation for Chan Master Jingxi Ran at Zuoxi in Dongyang. In this year, Pŏmyung and others of Silla transmitted the teachings and returned to their country.
First year of Tianbao (renwu, lasting fourteen years). On the nineteenth day of the ninth month in the thirteenth year of Tianbao, Chan Master Zuoxi manifested nirvāṇa.
