末田地與商那。同稟阿難。非正所承。今故不列。此土既尊龍樹為高祖。則視十四祖已下。反同旁出。西土十四祖。亦視吾北齊已下為旁出。各論所承。非互為是非也。若北齊悟智論一心三觀。以授南岳。遠繼龍樹。位列二祖云。

Madhyāntika and Śāṇakavāsa both received the transmission from Ānanda, so [Madhyāntika] was not the primary transmission, and thus is not listed here. Since this land honors Nāgārjuna as the prime ancestor, it regards those from the fourteenth patriarch downward as collateral branches. The fourteenth patriarch of the Western Land likewise regarded those from our Northern Qi onward as collateral branches. Each treats its own line of transmission; they are not mutually disputing right and wrong. As for Northern Qi, he awakened to the threefold contemplation in one mind of the *Treatise [on Great Wisdom]*, transmitted it to Nanyue, and distantly succeeded Nāgārjuna, being ranked as the second patriarch.
