27.15

本朝飛山戒珠。始集往生傳。厥後侍郎王古。加以續傳。南渡以來錢唐陸師壽。又增續之。四明默容海印復為續於後。凡二儒二釋。繼成此書。今並刪削繫文。獨著平時念佛臨終往生之驗。俾修淨業者有所慕焉。

Jiezhu of Mount Fei in the present dynasty first compiled the Biographies of Rebirth [in the Pure Land]. Later, Vice Minister Wang Gu supplemented them with a continuation. Since the crossing to the south, Lu Shishou of Qiantang supplemented them further. Morong Haiyin of Siming again added a continuation after that. Thus, four authors—two Confucians and two monastics—collaborated successively in completing this work. Now, cutting away extraneous passages, I record solely the verifiable accounts of regular recitation of the Buddha's name and subsequent rebirth at the time of death, so that those cultivating pure karmic practices may find something to aspire to.
