27.42

壽洪。汾陽人。常念往西方。將亡見兜率天童子來迎。師曰。我心期西往不生天上。即令眾念佛。遽云佛從西來矣。言訖而化。

Shouhong was a native of Fenyang who constantly contemplated going to the West. When about to die, he saw a youth from Tuṣita Heaven coming to welcome him. The Master said, “My heart aspires to go West, not to be born in heaven.” He immediately instructed the assembly to chant the Buddha's name, and then abruptly said, “The Buddha is coming from the west!” Having spoken, he passed away.
