28.79

周氏妙聰。周元卿之女。每感母氏華臺往生之瑞。嘗誦經念佛願生安養。病中請僧行懺。自見其身著新淨衣在樓閣上作禮念佛。謂家人曰。汝輩當勤修淨業。吾當於淨土待汝。即右脇吉祥向西而亡。

Lady Zhou, [styled] Miaocong, was the daughter of Zhou Yuanqing. She was always moved by the auspicious signs of her mother's rebirth on a lotus platform; she regularly chanted sūtras and recited the Buddha's name, wishing to be born in the Land of Peace and Sustenance (Sukhāvatī). While ill, she invited monks to conduct repentance rites. She saw herself clad in fresh, clean robes, paying homage and reciting the Buddha's name in a multistoried pavilion. She said to her family, 'You should diligently cultivate Pure Land practice; I shall wait for you in the Pure Land.' Thereupon, reclining on her right side in auspicious posture facing west, she passed away.
