28.96

醴泉孟氏女。久纏重病。沙門勸令念佛三年。謂夫曰。可急報諸親令來相送。暨畢集女焚香與眾念佛。見空中執錫沙門曰。汝當往生。已而佛菩薩至旛華排空。忽然遷化。

The daughter of the Meng family in Liquan had long been plagued by severe illness. A śramaṇa exhorted her to recite the Buddha's name for three years. She said to her husband, 'You may quickly notify our relatives to come and see me off.' When they had all assembled, the daughter burned incense and recited the Buddha's name together with the assembly. She saw in the sky a śramaṇa holding a staff, who said, 'You are to be reborn [in the Pure Land].' Soon the Buddhas and bodhisattvas arrived, with banners and flowers filling the air; suddenly she passed away.
