When the *Xuanwen* says that those of great capacity receive the teaching and immediately destroy ignorance, their practice being like clarified butter (text), this refers to the capacities of the kingly high mountains of the *Huayan*. When the *Nirvāṇa* says that from cows comes milk, this is spoken in terms of a single lifetime's teaching, pointing to the voice-hearers being deaf and mute. Therefore, the *Xuanwen* says that distinguishing by the three teachings is called the Sudden Teaching, which is also clarified butter; distinguishing by the five flavors is called the milk teaching. Now, stating that from cows comes milk refers to the first flavor.
