Decreasing to thirty years, entering 3,100 years into the Final Dharma, humans will be three feet tall. At that time the disaster of famine will arise, because the people will all practice the ten unwholesome deeds. Grasses, vegetables, rice, grains, and the five kinds of superior flavors will all disappear; people will only boil rotten bones together for banquets. If they come upon a single grain of millet or tare, they will hide and protect it like a jewel. For six or seven years the heavens will not send down rain; they will not even get water, let alone food or drink. Most people will starve to death, and the commanderies will become increasingly desolate. Only after seven years, seven months, and seven days will this disaster cease. At that time, a person will gather together meritorious men and women, totaling ten thousand people, keeping them as seeds of humanity. When people are able to practice good, the heavens will then rain down the food and drink they require (drawn variously from the Abhidharmakośabhāṣya, the Yogācārabhūmi-abhidharma, the Madhyamāgama, the Zhuangchun lu, and other texts).
