拘尸方丈。鹿園雞嶺。遍禮聖迹。住那爛陀十年。求經還耽摩立底。升舶過揭荼。將梵本寄佛逝。作南海寄歸傳求法高僧傳。永昌元年秋回廣府。至冬復附舶至佛逝。住三載。證聖元年回洛京譯經。

At the square-room cell in Kuśinagara, the Deer Park, and Mount Kukkuṭapāda, he paid homage everywhere to the sacred traces. He stayed at Nālandā for ten years, seeking scriptures, and returned to Tāmralipti. Boarding a ship, he passed through Kedah and sent the Sanskrit manuscripts to Śrīvijaya, composing the Record of Buddhist Practices Sent Home from the Southern Sea and the Biographies of Eminent Monks Who Sought the Dharma. In the autumn of the first year of Yongchang [689 CE], he returned to Guangfu. By winter, he again boarded a ship to Śrīvijaya, staying for three years. In the first year of Zhengsheng [695 CE], he returned to the eastern capital of Luoyang to translate scriptures.
