八年十月。制沙門盡敬君上。沙門僧遠聞而歎曰。我自出家為僧。何關帝王事耶。即日拂衣歸鍾山。

In the eighth year, in the tenth month, it was decreed that śramaṇas must render full homage to the sovereign. Śramaṇa Sengyuan heard this and sighed, saying: 'Since I left home to become a monk, what does it concern the affairs of emperors and kings?' That very day, he shook his robes and returned to Mount Zhong.
