元熙元年。帝深敬佛道。詔於瓦官寺鑄釋迦佛丈六金像。畢功之日放光滿寺。傾都人士咸致供養。
In the first year of Yuanxi, the Emperor deeply revered the Buddha-Dharma. An edict ordered the casting of a sixteen-foot golden image of Śākyamuni Buddha at Waguan Monastery. On the day the work was completed, light radiated, filling the monastery; gentlemen and people throughout the capital all offered worship.
