十六年。勅太醫不得以生類為藥。郊廟牲牷皆代以麫。宗廟薦羞始用蔬果（牷音全。牛純色。禮記祭祀牲牷）。

Sixteenth year. An imperial decree ordered that the imperial physicians must not use living creatures as medicine. For the sacrificial animals of the suburban temples, flour was substituted for all of them; the ancestral temples began to use vegetables and fruits for their sacrificial offerings. (Quan is pronounced quan; an ox of uniform color. The Liji speaks of 'sacrificial animals of uniform color' in sacrifices.)
