37.26

五年。帝幸同泰寺發金字般若經題。自太子已下聽法者。三十萬九千六百人○吏部尚書到溉家居蔬食。朝夕從僧禮誦。帝為月三致淨饌。所得奉祿（奉音鳳。作俸字。葑音者皆非。今官階朝奉者。當音鳳。事見前漢書）皆充蔣山二寺（即鍾山也）及卒顏色如生。手屈二指。

In the fifth year, the Emperor visited Tongtai Monastery and propounded the title of the gold-lettered *Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra*. From the Crown Prince on down, 309,600 people listened to the Dharma. Minister of Personnel Dao Gai lived at home on a vegetarian diet, morning and evening following the monks in worship and recitation. The Emperor sent him pure food three times a month. The official salary he received was entirely donated to the two monasteries of Mount Jiang (that is, Mount Zhong). When he died, his facial complexion was as if alive, and his hand was bent with two fingers raised.
