至德元年。勅慧暅為京邑大僧正○永陽王伯智出鎮東陽（文帝第八子）請顗禪師赴鎮開講。王與子湛及家人同稟菩薩戒法。

In the first year of Zhide, an imperial decree appointed Huigeng as the Great Saṅgha Controller of the Capital. Prince of Yongyang Bozhit went out to garrison Dongyang (the eighth son of Emperor Wen) and invited Chan Master [Zhi]yi to the garrison to give lectures. The prince, together with his son Zhan and his family members, jointly received the bodhisattva precept method.
