武德元年。詔為太祖已下造栴檀等身佛三軀。以沙門景輝嘗記帝當承天命為立勝業寺。以沙門曇獻於隋末設粥救饑民。為立慈悲寺。以義師起於太原。為立太原寺。又詔并州立義興寺。以旌起義方之功。

In the first year of Wude, an edict ordered the carving of three life-sized sandalwood Buddha statues for [the imperial ancestors] from Taizu down. Because the śramaṇa Jinghui had once prophesied that the Emperor would receive the heavenly mandate, Shengye Monastery was established for him. Because the śramaṇa Tanxian had provided porridge to relieve the starving multitude at the end of the Sui, Cibei Monastery was established for him. Because the righteous army had risen in Taiyuan, Taiyuan Monastery was established. A decree was also issued to establish Yixing Monastery in Bingzhou to commend the merits of the region where the righteous uprising began.
