太宗繼體。度童子十七萬人。建譯經院製聖教序。賜天下無名伽藍之額。建開寶大塔舍利之藏。暨真宗在朝。聖德遐被。五天咸貢梵典。昭陳天禧。度僧二十四萬。

Taizong succeeded to the lineage, he ordained one hundred and seventy thousand youths, established the Sūtra Translation Institute, composed the Imperial Preface to the Holy Teachings, bestowed name-plaques upon nameless saṅghārāmas throughout the empire, and built the great stupa of Kaibao to enshrine the relics. When Zhenzong was on the throne, his sage virtue reached far and wide; the Five Indias all presented Sanskrit texts; shining brightly during the Tianxi era, he ordained two hundred and forty thousand monks.
