In the second year, an imperial decree summoned Chan Master Huiran of Sansheng into the inner palace to inquire about the Chan Dharma. The Emperor said, "When I captured Daliang, I acquired an invaluable pearl, and no one has yet appraised its price." Ran said, "May Your Majesty show me the jewel." The Emperor extended the corners of his cap with his hand. Ran said, "Who would dare appraise the price of an emperor's jewel?" The Emperor was pleased. When he died, he was posthumously granted the title of Great Master Guangji and his pagoda was named Tongji.
