43.30

述曰。廷議但欲分別僧尼。而不知尼女受戒須依大僧無置壇自受之律。此一時救弊不可為法。今則無復用此也。

The author remarks: The court deliberations merely sought to distinguish monks from nuns, without knowing the vinaya rule that a nun receiving ordination must rely upon the great monks (mahāsaṅgha) and cannot set up an altar to transmit it herself. This was a temporary remedy for an abuse and cannot be taken as a standard rule. Today it is no longer used.
