The country of Japan dispatched envoys presenting tribute, who reported: 'In the east of our realm, an auspicious light appeared. According to ancient tradition, if the Son of Heaven in the Central Plains is sagely and luminous, then this omen will be manifested.' The Emperor was delighted. He ordered that a temple be built in Japan, bestowed on it the name-plaque Shengguang, and commanded literary ministers to compose a record for the temple.
