八年正月。臣僚言。每歲上元車駕詣寺觀三十餘處百拜已上。望自今諸殿令近臣分拜。上謂王旦曰。朕祈福中外。虔恭拜起未嘗懈怠。卿等欲申裁減非朕之意（國朝會要）。

In the eighth year, in the first month, ministers submitted: 'Every year at the Lantern Festival, the imperial carriage visits more than thirty temples and monasteries, making over a hundred prostrations. We hope that from now on, close ministers will be ordered to make prostrations in the various halls on your behalf.' The Emperor said to Wang Dan: 'I pray for blessings for both within and without, reverently and respectfully prostrating and rising without ever slacking. Your desire to reduce them does not accord with my intention' (Guochao huiyao).
