筠州沙門惠洪（字覺範）坐交宰相張商英節使郭天信流崖州。靈源清禪師聞之歎曰。蘭植中塗。必無經時之翠。桂生幽壑。終抱彌年之丹。古人謂。聰明深察而近於死者。好議人者也。在覺範有之矣。

The śramaṇa Huihong (style name Juefan) of Yunzhou was exiled to Yazhou due to his associations with Prime Minister Zhang Shangying and Military Commissioner Guo Tianxin. Hearing of this, Chan Master Lingyuan Qing sighed and said, 'An orchid planted in the middle of the road can never maintain its green through the seasons; a cassia growing in a hidden ravine will always preserve its crimson year after year. The ancients said, "Those whose intelligence is deep and penetrating yet who draw near to death are those fond of criticizing others." This applies to Juefan.'
