二年七月。張商英遊五臺。中夜於祕魔巖見文殊大士身在金色光中。九月自太原出案壽陽。至方山昭化院。即李長者造論之所。於破屋下得華嚴決疑論。疾讀之疑情頓釋。即移縣為長者立像。有圓光白色見於山南。於是父老并請新其院。商英乃為之記。

Second year [1087 CE], seventh month. Zhang Shangying traveled to Mount Wutai. At midnight at Bimo Cliff, he saw the Great Being Mañjuśrī in a body of golden light. In the ninth month, setting out from Taiyuan to inspect Shouyang, he arrived at Zhaohua Cloister on Mount Fang, the very place where Elder Li [Tongxuan] had composed his treatise. Beneath a ruined house, he obtained the Huayan jueyi lun (Treatise on Resolving Doubts Concerning the Avataṃsaka). As he read it quickly, his doubts were instantly resolved. He at once ordered the county to erect a statue of the Elder, and a round white halo appeared to the south of the mountain. Thereupon the village elders jointly requested to renovate the cloister, and Shangying composed a record for it.
