○嚴陵唐仙姑者。幼年厭塵俗往姑蘇。謁何蘘衣。躬薪水十二年。後逢呂真人與之丹。大上皇聞其名。召入德壽宮。請符水。問曰。先生符水是行何法。對曰。不曾行法。但以心為法。以神為符。以氣為水耳。上說。書寂靜先生以賜之。

○ Immortal Tang of Yanling, in her youth, grew weary of worldly dust and went to Gusu to visit He Rangyi. She personally gathered firewood and drew water for twelve years. Later she met True Man Lü, who gave her an elixir. The Grand Emperor Heard of her fame and summoned her to the Deshou Palace, requesting talisman water. He asked: 'Master, what method do you practice for this talisman water?' She replied: 'I have never practiced any method; I merely take the mind as the method, the spirit as the talisman, and the qi as the water.' The Emperor was delighted and wrote 'Master of Serene Stillness' to bestow upon her.
