隋煬帝。詔沙門道士致敬王者。沙門明瞻抗詔。謂僧無敬俗之典。遂寢。
Sui Dynasty. Emperor Yang decreed that śramaṇas and Daoist priests render reverence to the ruler. The śramaṇa Mingzhan resisted the decree, asserting that monks have no ritual canon for venerating worldly persons, and the matter was subsequently dropped.
