52.15

隋文帝。詔天下正五九月及六齋日。不得殺生命○智者禪師至岳州講金光明經。化一郡五縣。一千餘所咸捨漁捕。

Emperor Wen of the Sui. He decreed that throughout the realm, in the first, fifth, and ninth months, as well as on the six fast days, living beings must not be killed. Chan Master Zhizhe went to Yuezhou to expound the Suvarṇaprabhāsa-sūtra, transforming one commandery and five counties; over a thousand places all renounced fishing and hunting.
