隋文帝。晉王廣於揚州迎禪師授菩薩戒。上師號曰智者○智者禪師。於玉泉山為關王父子授菩薩戒○智者於玉泉山說法華玄義。章安預聽○智者於玉泉山說摩訶止觀。章安預聽○恭帝。章安於天台國清為法華威禪師說止觀。

Under Emperor Wen of the Sui, Yang Guang, Prince of Jin, welcomed the Chan Master in Yangzhou to receive the bodhisattva precepts, conferring upon the Master the title 'Wise One' (Zhizhe). Chan Master Zhizhe conferred the bodhisattva precepts upon Prince Guan and his son on Mount Yuquan. Zhizhe explained the *Profound Meaning of the Lotus Sūtra* on Mount Yuquan, and Zhang'an attended the lecture. Zhizhe explained the *Mohe zhiguan* on Mount Yuquan, and Zhang'an attended the lecture. Under Emperor Gong, Zhang'an explained calming and contemplation to Chan Master Fahua Wei at Guoqing Monastery on Mount Tiantai.
