Under Zhenzong, Master Li answered the list of queries from Master Genshin of Japan at Bao'en on Nanhu; an imperial plaque was granted renaming Bao'en to Yanqing, and together with Master Yiwen he composed two admonitory vows so that it might serve as a site for the perpetual lecturing on the Tiantai teachings. Master Li gathered ten monks to practice the Lotus Repentance for three years, intending to burn his body as an offering to the Dharma; Hanlin Academician Yang Yi sent a letter urging him to remain in the world. An imperial decree bestowed 4,620 rolls of printed texts of Zhizhe's teachings from Mount Dongye. Commandant Li Zunxu reported the lofty conduct of Master Li of Siming and his resolution to abandon his body; the Emperor praised him and bestowed the title Fazhi ('Dharma Wisdom'). An imperial decree sent palace attendant Yu Yuanqing to Yanqing in Siming to invite Fazhi to lead the assembly in performing repentance rituals and praying for blessings, and [Fazhi] set forth the essential teachings of the repentance rite. Empress Dowager Zhangyi sent an envoy to Tianzhu to invite Master Shi to perform repentance rituals for the state; the Master presented the *Suvarṇaprabhāsa State-Protection Ritual* and thereupon petitioned to have the Tiantai doctrinal texts entered into the Tripiṭaka. Under Renzong, an imperial decree ordered palace attendant Yang Huaigu to go to Tianzhu to pray for blessings for the state; Master Shi again requested that the Tiantai doctrinal texts be entered into the Tripiṭaka. Fazhi of Yanqing released fish and birds on the Buddha's birthday and composed a text on releasing life; the commandery prefect Zeng Hui reported this, and an imperial decree directed Liu Yun of the Bureau of Military Affairs to compose an inscription on a stele at the monastery gate. Fazhi of Yanqing examined students under the name 'Opening the Curtain'; the Forty-Two Chapters remains the standard to this day. An imperial decree allowed the Tiantai doctrinal texts to be entered into the Tripiṭaka and offered a meal to a thousand monks at Lingshan. Master Ru of Mount Dongye assembled one hundred monks to practice the prolonged repentance; Commandant Ma Zunxu reported this to the court, and the title Shenzhao was bestowed upon him, and together with prefect Zhang Dexiang and other worthy gentlemen, he founded the White Lotus Society. Under Shenzong, Great Master Haiyue Huibian resided at Lingshan in Tianzhu and was appointed Chief Monk Rectifier by the commandery; whenever an abbot's seat fell vacant within his jurisdiction, he gathered the finest monks from all monasteries and opened an examination hall to test doctrine, grading with names concealed. Under Xiaozong, an imperial decree ordered the Dongchan Monastery in Fuzhou to carve blocks for the Tiantai doctrinal texts to be entered into the Tripiṭaka in accordance with the decree issued in the second year of Tiansheng. Under Ningzong, the Jingmen Military Prefecture requested an additional honorary title for Zhizhe of Yuquan, and an imperial decree bestowed the title 'Great Master Linghui'. Under Lizong, Shouyu of Lingshan petitioned that the commentaries and notes of more than two hundred rolls written by Great Master Fazhi be entered into the Tripiṭaka; imperial consent was granted.
