唐高宗。宣律師在西明寺行道。北天王太子以佛牙上於師○代宗。勅問文綱律師。親傳先師宣律師釋迦佛牙。宜詣右門進上。副朕瞻禮。

Under Emperor Gaozong of the Tang, when Vinaya Master Xuan was practicing the Way at Ximing Monastery, the crown prince of the King of Northern India presented a Buddha tooth to the master. Under Emperor Daizong, an imperial order was sent to Vinaya Master Wengang: "The tooth of Śākyamuni Buddha directly transmitted to you by your late master, Vinaya Master Xuan, should be presented at the Right Gate to fulfill our desire to gaze upon and pay homage to it."
