隋煬帝。為智者設千僧齋。嚫溢一人。咸謂化身來受國供。開視靈塔。唯空床虛帳。

Under Emperor Yang of the Sui: He held an offering feast for a thousand monks on behalf of Zhizhe; the alms offerings were surplus by one person. Everyone said that an emanation body had come to receive the state offering. When they opened and inspected the miraculous stūpa, there were only an empty bed and bare curtains.
