Emperor Zhongzong of the Tang revered the precious pagoda, decreeing that offerings and gifts be sent, and entrusting the śramaṇa Qikuang to maintain incense and lamps according to the ritual regulations. Zhixi of Guoqing Monastery came to the monastery and made eighty-four thousand prostrations; suddenly purple markings spontaneously appeared on his right arm, which never faded throughout his life. When the mother of the Palace Chaplain Zilin died during Emperor Suzong's reign, the sacred peak deity instructed him to go to Mount Mao to pay homage to the pagoda so as to relieve his mother's sins. When Lin reached the monastery and completed forty thousand prostrations, his mother manifested her form before the pagoda and said: "Relying on your power, I have already been reborn in Trāyastriṃśa." Under Emperor Xuanzong, eight thousand monastics and laypersons of Siming offered worship before the relic pagoda at King Aśoka Monastery; heavenly flowers fell in abundance, and five-colored light radiated. Under Emperor Yizong, Surveillance Commissioner Yang Yan memorialized the miraculous manifestations of the precious relic pagoda; thirty-seven monks were ordained by decree to reverently maintain the incense and lamps.
