54.64

唐德宗。勅亡僧資財舊例送終之餘分。及一眾比來因事官收。並緣擾害。令仰依舊。一準律文分財法。官司仍前拘收者。以違制論。

Emperor Dezong of the Tang decreed: "According to old precedent, the remaining property of a deceased monk after funeral expenses was distributed among the whole assembly; recently it has been confiscated by officials on various pretexts, resulting in harassment and harm. It is ordered that, as before, the method of distributing property strictly adhere to the Vinaya texts; officials who continue to detain and confiscate property as before shall be prosecuted for violating imperial regulations."
