9.43

禪師慧辯。稟姿聰寤。聞智者開演觀道。默記無遺。如水傳瓶一滴不漏。後於佛隴會別大眾。架木成樓舉火焚軀用報佛德。煙籠林表舍利交凝。

Dhyāna Master Huibian was endowed with keen intelligence. Hearing the Master of Wisdom expound the path of contemplation, he memorized it silently without omission, like water poured from one vessel into another without losing a single drop. Later, at Folong, he gathered the great assembly to bid farewell, erected timber into a tower, and set fire to his body to repay the Buddha's virtue. The smoke enveloped the forest heights, and relics coalesced abundantly.
