Dharma Master Falin was granted the title Huizhao. Early on he became a foremost disciple of Mingzhi, frequently occupying the head seat; his religious practice and literary compositions were admired and respected by all. When Ŭich'ŏn of Goryeo arrived, he first went to Nanhu, where he took Mingzhi as his master and befriended Huizhao. He requested a colophon for the doctrinal vehicles he had received to take back to his home country. The master took up his brush and composed it instantly, in the style of ancient histories; Ŭich'ŏn praised and admired it endlessly (the text appears in the Mingwen Guangjiao zhi). The commandery appointed him to preside over Sanxue, where the splendor of his lecturing was second only to Nanhu. He once said to his disciples, 'I have often exhorted people with two precepts: before age thirty, one must not chant Amitābha; after age seventy, one may not uphold the disaster-dispelling dhāraṇī. This means the young do not know how to advance, and the old do not know when to stop.' The people of the time agreed with him.
