While the Bodhisattva was in his mother's womb, walking, standing, sitting, and lying down were without hindrance. In the early morning, he preached the Dharma for the gods of the form realm; at midday, for the gods of the desire realm; in the late afternoon, for the spirits and ghosts; and during the three periods of the night, it was likewise: he matured sentient beings (Sūtra of Cause and Effect; as this sūtra already states that in walking, standing, sitting, and lying down he preached the Dharma for the gods, spirits, and ghosts during the six periods of the day, it is a text on the Small Vehicle's dwelling in the womb). Bodhisattva Prabhāpāla said to the deva Suvarṇapiṇḍa: 'The house where in the past a bodhisattva one birth away from Buddhahood entrusted his birth had to possess sixty kinds of merits and three generations of purity. Go down to Jambudvīpa and observe on my behalf' (and so forth; Prabhāpāla is indeed Śāntimata).
