Wei Wenjin held the rank of Surveillance Commissioner. He established a Western bodhimaṇḍa, reciting the Buddha’s name and making vows. One day, right in the midst of reciting the Buddha’s name, he suddenly faced west, sat cross-legged, and passed away, an extraordinary fragrance filling the room (Tang).
