Gao Haoxiang was a native of Dongping. Shutting his gates, he sat quietly and recited exclusively the Sukhāvatīvyūha Sūtra (Wuliangshou jing). In contemplation, red lotuses floated on a jade pond; at first he did not see the Buddha, so upon the flower he devoted his heart to paying deep reverence. Looking afar, he saw the Buddha's golden countenance shining brightly, its radiance reflecting into the distance. One evening, he saw an assembly of bodhisattvas coming to welcome him, and he suddenly passed away.
