Daoyuan was a native of Danyang. Previously, she had fashioned seven large images in various monasteries, striving for extreme refinement and beauty. She also cast an image of the Buddha of Immeasurable Life from gold and copper. Suddenly, a great brilliant light radiated from between its eyebrows, and the ground all turned golden. The image bestowed a prophecy upon Daoyuan, saying, “When you abandon this body, you will certainly be born in my land.” Thereupon, she sat upright before the image and passed away.
