The commentary states: Some raise doubts, saying that the Neichuan lacks the name of an author. Looking at this biography now, it fully records the contest of dharmas between Mātanga, Dharmaratna, and the Daoists; how could people of later generations have known of this? It must have been recorded by the various disciples when Dharmaratna translated the sūtras.
