In the nineteenth year, a five-colored light appeared north of the city of Jiangling. The śramaṇa Tanyi obtained a golden statue from the earth; its aureole bore Sanskrit script stating that it was made by King Aśoka. Thereupon it was welcomed and placed in Changsha Monastery (the image before which Zhizhe made his vow was this very statue. According to the Record of Heavenly and Human Responses, this Changsha Monastery was on the north bank of Jingzhou; notes in separate biographies identifying it as Tanzhou are mistaken).
