Outside this Iron Encircling Mountain, all the Buddhas of the ten directions gathered like clouds to preach the Dharma, which was also called expounding scriptures. Later, Mañjuśrī summoned all the bodhisattvas and great arhats to compile the Mahāyāna Dharma treasury. Each said: 'Such and such a scripture I heard from the Buddha.' Subhūti said: 'The Diamond Prajñā I heard from the Buddha.' Hence we know it was not restricted to Ānanda. However, Ānanda heard all the scriptures comprehensively, whereas the other disciples were partially limited to their respective divisions (*Commentary on the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa*, citing the *Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa*).
