In the third year of Qianfu, Dharma Master Wai expounded the Dharma gate of Calm Abiding and Clear Observation for Dharma Master Yuanxiu at Guoqing Temple. / The stupa containing the intact body of Chan Master Wuliao of Guiyang in Quanzhou had stood for twenty years when it was submerged by a mountain spring. His disciples opened it to look and found it undecayed. The King of Min heard of it and sent an envoy to carry it into the government courtyard to make offerings. Suddenly a foul odor was smelled far away. The King burned incense and prayed: 'May it return to the old site of Guiyang to erect a stupa.' Immediately an extraordinary fragrance pervaded everywhere. The whole city went to pay homage. The circuit memorialized the throne, and the Emperor bestowed the posthumous title Great Master Zhenji, naming the stupa Lingjue. His disciple Huizhong had met with the [Huichang] suppression and ended his days as a layman; he was buried to the east of the Master's stupa. Today, the single true body at Guiyang is relied upon by scholar-officials and the common people, just like the surviving influence of Saṅgha.
