In the sixth month, an edict was issued to the monasteries across the various circuits that any which were slated for abolition in the second year of the Xiande era but had not yet been destroyed were permitted to remain. For those temples that had already been demolished, all Buddhist images were permitted to be relocated and preserved. Thereupon, the bronze statues hidden among the populace gradually emerged.
