Under Emperor Zhao, Su Dan of Chen attained the way of immortality; taking leave of his mother, he said: 'Next year there will be an epidemic in the prefecture. You may draw well water from before the courtyard and use orange leaves to save the people.' Having spoken, he ascended to heaven; the world called him the Immortal Lord Su. Under Emperor An, Yin Changsheng took Ma Mingsheng as master to study the Dao; he boiled yellow earth into gold, creating several hundred thousand catties of yellow gold to give to the destitute and impoverished, and ascended to heaven in broad daylight. Under Emperor Shun, Wei Boyang of Shangyu composed the Zhouyi Cantongqi and the Wujiang leilun; after preparing the elixir, he ingested it and underwent transformation. Under Emperor Huan, Wang Yuan passed through Wu and summoned Magu; they brought forward celestial provisions on gold platters and jade cups with dried qilin meat; Magu remarked: 'I have seen the Eastern Sea turn three times into mulberry fields.' Under Emperor Xian, Zuo Ci entered Mount Tianzhu to study the Dao, and together with his disciple Ge Xuan entered Mount Huo, compounded an elixir, and departed as immortals.
