Vipaśyin Buddha (the 998th Honoured One of the past Glorious Kalpa), his verse states:
“The body is born from the signless,
Just as various forms appear by illusion.
The consciousness of an illusory person is originally non-existent;
Demerit and merit are both empty, having nowhere to abide.”
The Dīrghāgama Sūtra states: When the human lifespan was 80,000 years, this Buddha appeared in the world. His caste was kṣatriya, and his surname was Kauṇḍinya. His father was Bandhumat, and his mother was Bandhumatī. He resided in the city of Bandhumatī. He sat beneath a pāṭalī tree to preach the Dharma. In three assemblies, he liberated 348,000 people. He had two foremost disciples endowed with miraculous powers: the first was named Khaṇḍa, and the second was named Tiṣya. His attendant was Aśoka, and his son was Supravabuddha.
