([Year] 18) Fu Yi experienced karmic retribution; in the autumn of the fourteenth year, he died suddenly. The Mingbao ji (Record of Miraculous Retribution) says: In the beginning, Yi, Fu Renjun, and Xue Ji served together in the Astrological Bureau. Renjun died first. Ji had previously owed Renjun five thousand coins that he had not repaid. Later, he dreamed that Renjun came to collect them. Ji asked: "To whom should the money previously owed be given?" Renjun said: "Give it to the mud-man." He further asked: "Who is the mud-man?" He replied: "Fu Yi." That evening, Feng Changming, Director of the Shaofu, had the same dream. Moreover, he saw many deceased persons and asked about the truth or falsity of the Buddhist scriptures. They said: "They are true." He asked: "What retribution will Fu Yi receive for destroying the Dharma?" They said: "He is assigned to Yuezhou as a mud-man." Changming entered the palace court and informed Ji, and Ji also spoke of having the same experience. At that time, Tang Lin was at their side. Ji delivered the money to Yi and told him of the dream. In not many days, Yi indeed died suddenly. Or it means a person in Avīci Hell (niri).
