（二十三）　法師玄惲卒。惲字道世。或云名道世。以避太宗偏諱故以字行。三學洞貫。甞慨教藏及古今圖史之博而學者難以備究。因撰法苑珠林凡一百卷。各開門類。識者重其精博云。

(23) Dharma Master Xuanyun died. Yun's courtesy name was Daoshi; some say his name was Daoshi and that he went by his courtesy name to avoid the taboo character of Emperor Taizong's personal name. He had a penetrating command of the three trainings. He once lamented that because the scriptural canon and ancient and modern illustrated histories were so vast, scholars found it difficult to master them thoroughly; he therefore compiled the Fayuan zhulin in a total of one hundred fascicles, dividing it into various categories. Those who knew valued it for its precision and breadth.
