([Year] 40) National Preceptor Huian died. He admonished his disciples, saying: 'When my breath ceases, place my corpse in the forest and let wild fires burn it at will.' By chance, the wonder-working monk Wanhui arrived, took [Hui]an's hands, and conversed with him. His disciples listened from the side, but none could understand them. On the eighth day, he shut his door, reclined, and entered quiescence at the age of one hundred and twenty-eight. His disciples obeyed his instruction and carried the corpse into the forest; wild fire indeed came and cremated it. Eighty grains of relics were obtained; five grains were the largest, of a purple-red color with an eye-dazzling brilliance. By decree, they were kept within the inner palace.
