（六）　江西北蘭讓禪師湖塘亮長老問。伏承師兄畫得先師真。暫請瞻禮。師以兩手撥胸開示之。亮便禮拜。師云。莫禮莫禮。亮云。師兄錯也。某甲不禮師兄。師云。汝禮先師真。亮云。因什麼教某甲莫禮。師云。何曾錯。

(6) Senior Monk Hutang Liang asked Chan Master Beilan Rang of Jiangxi: "I have respectfully heard that you, Elder Brother, have painted a true portrait of our late master. I beg to view and pay homage to it for a moment." The master parted his chest with both hands and showed it to him. Liang then made a prostration. The master said, "Do not bow, do not bow!" Liang said, "Elder Brother is mistaken; I am not bowing to you, Elder Brother." The master said, "Are you bowing to the late master's true portrait?" Liang said, "Why do you tell me not to bow?" The master said, "When was I ever mistaken?")
