(10 / Yimao) [835 CE] — In the fourth month, on the dingsi day, Grand Councillor Li Xun submitted a memorial requesting the abolition of the Inner Palace Chapel and the purging of counterfeit and illicit monks and nuns. An imperial decree approved it. On that day, when the edict was issued and they were just beginning to destroy the sacred images in the Imperial Palace, a violent wind suddenly arose. The ridge-end ornaments of Hanyuan Hall all fell down, the guardhouses of the Three Gold Marks were unroofed, the towers and gatehouses of both the inner and outer city walls were all ruined, and the wall of Guanghua Gate also collapsed. Scholars and commoners trembled in fear. Considering that what Li Xun requested went against the will of Heaven, the Emperor urgently decreed the suspension of the previous purge and ordered that the holy images in the Imperial Palace be re-erected. The wind thereupon abruptly ceased. This is recorded in the 'Treatise on the Five Elements' in the Old History. In the winter of that year, in the eleventh month, Grand Councillors Li Xun and Zheng Zhu plotted to eliminate the eunuchs, but they did not succeed and their plot failed; both Xun and Zhu died.
