An edict ordered the portrait of the National Preceptor to be painted and enshrined in the Daxingtang Monastery. Emperor Wenzong composed an imperial praise, saying: "I observe the Dharma realm, / Vast and boundless. / Responding to conditions to accomplish tasks, / Truly employing the root of emptiness. / National Preceptor Qingliang, / Embodied the forms and opened the gates. / Encompassing the Dharma realm, / Our ancestors forthwith revered him. / His teachings merged the seas and peaks; / His benevolence broadened heaven and earth. / The first prime minister wrote two commentaries, / Elevating those in darkness. / The exceptional vigor came forth, / Reverently upholding the Buddha Sun. / Light coalesced across the Four Seas; / Rejoicing overflowed the Nine Provinces. / Opening the Golden Immortal's gate, / Taking the seat of ancient sages. / Great hands from illustrious ministries / Carried scriptures to request his guidance. / Still serving as master to my minister Xiu, / Securing my enduring reign. / Thereupon wielding the brush, / To praise his abundant realities. / True emptiness is inexhaustible; / When the conditions matured, he took flight. / The white moon in empty autumn; / The clear breeze fitting for summer. / Wondrous existence does not change; / When conditions ceased, he transformed. / Distant is his appearance of Yu, / Brilliant in the monastery."
